Personal Profile

Over the past decade, William James Donnelly has established himself as one of the most effective, knowledgeable, and compassionate attorneys serving students with disabilities and their families. He has successfully represented hundreds of special education families in due process cases across California. William also works with families to address cases involving student injuries, abuse, or discrimination due to disabilities.

William understands the stress and uncertainty many face when considering legal action against their child’s school. He is honored to guide families in advocating for their child’s right to a safe, individualized, and meaningful education. While William staunchly defends his clients’ rights, his calm demeanor and collaborative negotiation style help maintain positive relationships between families and school districts.

William has taught education law at Golden Gate University School of Law and frequently speaks on special education law and litigation at continuing education programs for attorneys and educators. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, as well as a Juris Doctor, Master of Arts, and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
